Rent-a-mob

Precise estimates of the size of crowd in Plaza de Mayo yesterday afternoon were not available at the time this editorial was written but in any case this should never be the point — the whole rent-a-mob context of the rally contradicted the presidential speech’s stress on institutional quality and her appeal to farmers to await the electoral verdict. Nor could this context ever lend itself to anything resembling a conciliatory speech — CFK could not resist the temptation to take constant swipes at her rural opponents and middle-class critics.
